A quality design may seem like an added extra however it will make the world of a difference when adding to your businesses professional reputation. Make sure that your logo is added to all aspects of promotion that your business is using. Small touches like a professional logo and email makes it more likely that people will reply, as well as generally exuding professionalism. Along with your company logo design ensure that your emails include a personal business title, address, phone, email, website and Twitter/Facebook links.

This year re-brand trend does suggest that there have been lots of successful businesses with poorly that began as start-ups, however, with logos been added to everything from social media to your website you may lose customers before you have even started due to a poorly designed promo.

Although many businesses have opted for a sleeker design in 2016, the digital design movement started back in 2013. Businesses began to change their logos to revive their old fashioned, over designed logos.

Not only does a logo change give a business a fresh start but it can boost sales and bring customers who have faded away back into the fold. 

Businesses began opting for the "Flat" look in 2013. Shadowing and embossing were abandoned and most brands loosened their attachment to 3D effects.

Flat logos became trendy and this was mainly due to the digital revolution that was occurring. Marketers' began to use mobile as the driving force for campaigns, and they wanted their promotional material to look how they would on a physical product.

Digital Logo Design Over the Years


Minimalism in logo design works wonders for bigger brands. Facebook cleaned up their logo design back in 2013. Although the change may be slight it displays how even a small change can freshen up the appearance of a brand.


Spotify are a great example of a brand that took their current logo design and created something 10x better! Although the brand maintains the main focus of its predecessor its flat sans-serif look is stripped-down details keep it clean without killing its fun image.

Since Spotify updated its logo in 2013 and has since doubled down on the black and green colour palette, creating everything in that scheme.

TGI Friday's

Teviot were behind TGI Friday’s 2013 re-brand. TGI Friday’s wanted a redesign of their iconic branding and logo. They wanted to mix tradition with modernism, cleaning up their logo design to give the brand a lick of much needed paint. Teviot done an excellent job of renovating the design:

"Modernizing such an iconic logo was very exciting. A lot of time was dedicated to research and analyzing the marketplace to help us deliver a clean, refined logo that moved the brand forward and retained its established identity.”


This year Instagram went bold and completely changed their vintage style logo. Instagram have not only made their logo more colorful and flatter it has also made changes to its sister apps too. 

Head of Design at Instagram, Ian Splatter, says that their logo has evolved with the brand:  
“When Instagram was founded, it was a place to easily edit and share photos. Five years later, things have evolved. Instagram is now a diverse community of interests where people are sharing more photos and videos than ever before; using new tools like Boomerang and Layout, and connecting in new ways through Explore.”

If you take anything away from this article, remember that when creating your logo is to keep it simple. Digital is changing everything we do in business and today your brand may be just finding it feet but in but in five years’ your logo could be as recognizable as some of the ones featured above.
